What to Expect
Any lucky Friday the 13th parties planned
today? There are many theories as to why, for
hundreds of years, there has been a fear of this
day. You can find a few of them on the free
online encyclopedia
www.wikipedia.org. I found this comment
particularly interesting, "It's
been estimated that [U.S] $800 or $900 million is
lost in business on this day because people will not
fly or do business they would normally do.”
It’s
amazing the power our belief system can have on our
actions.
Something my mother
taught me many years ago when reading a book about a
little train was… “If you think you can, you’re
right…If you think you can’t, you’re right also.”
It was very confusing to me at the time, but now
that I’ve traveled many miles on that train, I
believe her. I’ve seen the power of the mind
ruin many parties.
If you are stressed out and expect everything to go
wrong, you won’t be surprised when it does.
It’s quite amazing, and I can’t explain why it
happens, but if you are positive and open to what
can happen, you and your guests will have a great
time. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge proponent
for being prepared, the trick is to manage your
expectations and attitude.
My challenge to you last
week was to wear a hat. My challenge to you
this week is to choose a positive attitude and
believe today is going to be a great day whether you
have a party planned or not.
