About Hats
It’s Easter and time for putting on our festive
bonnets. I love wearing hats for many reasons.
I’m in the event business and hats are often worn at
weddings because they’re all about glamour, not to
mention the SPF benefits for those hot outdoor
weddings. My fascination with hats probably
began in the 80’s when fashion was excessive.
So I had a few hats, but rarely wore them.
Then I had children. I found hats a great way
to cover bad hair days when I just didn’t have time
to look after myself now that I had two others to
get ready every morning. Once I created my own
business, I decided my hats would be a great
trademark. I had no idea the positive reaction
I’d get. I hear probably every day “I love
your hat” and “where did you get your hat?” A
hat for some reason is a great ice-breaker and
invites people to speak freely. Everyone loves
hats on me, but claim to not look good in hats
themselves although they do love them. All you
need to look good in hats is confidence and a dash
of cheeky. The fashion world claims the hat to
be the new hot fashion item and so I invite all of
you closet hat lovers to dust off those chapeaus,
put them on and walk outside with confidence.
I promise you’ll get lots of compliments which will
further build your self esteem. Some of my
favourite hat shops are: Accessorize with Flair and
Durrant Illusions on Essendene in Abbotsford,
Roxann’s in Fort Langley, and Uncommon Thredz in
Mission. If you know of any other great hat
shops or have any event questions, email us at

"You cannot hide
in a hat; you will be noticed.
To men, you become a lady when you don a
hat...
One who they rush to open doors for.
To women, you become an inspiration,
reminding them that they have a closet full
of hats
they have not had the courage to
wear."
